This page will be updated third week of October, 2008. In the meantime,

St. Charles Sister Cities News --- September 18, 2008

Yes, Virginia, there is a meeting, as always and ever, next Monday, the 4th Monday, September 22 ---- Not the 5th Monday!! Same place – Culpepper’s, 7:00PM.  Please mark your calendar accordingly. Should be another fun meeting, Helen Haywood has Anne McPartland, German language teacher, FHNorth, giving the program with several students, recently returned from Ludwigsburg.

Well, by this time next week, Sandi and her crew will be able to relax and catch up on their efforts of our Missouri River Irish Fest, starting about 24 hours from now, Friday, Sept 19 through Sunday Sept. 21. Yes, she has known about the flood of Frontier Park, 2008, and the concerns it has set upon her.  The Park Dept. has closed the Frontier Park for the next two weeks but that will not stop the fighting Irish!  Oh, by the way, you will get two for one because this is the MOSAICS Art Fest weekend also, only one block away from the Irish Party! Sister Cities Young Artists world-wide winners' art work is on display at the Foundry Art Centre thru MOSAICS weekend.

Weather is said to be great for the weekend, so come on down!

The following weekend will be the Oktoberfest and we will be selling Warsteiner from a very attractive truck, yes I mean attractive. Jim O’Dell is in charge that weekend and says he is OK with help Friday and Sunday, but can use all the assist he can get all day Saturday.

Susie and Carla talked of the Oktoberfest Dinner Dance just about one month away. Mary and Susie have tickets, we need your participation to help us have a sellout!  Their next planning meeting is next Wednesday Sept. 24, 6:30 at Stegton’s. If you have not yet donated, please remember, Monday’s meeting, to bring Carla O‘Dell  a bottle of spirits for the raffle.

Well, the Farewell to Summer, a la Française was an absolute delight! Thank you, Lina and Ingrid for sharing your beautiful home and hospitality with us. The cheeses, the French wines, the French foods were wonderful! No one tried the swimming pool, although the day was so perfectly beautiful, it would have been fun.

Board did meet this past Monday, Secretary’s minutes and Treasurer’s report will be made available.

Special thanks to Jim and Carla for taking their time to visit the City Council meeting and express our gratitude for the $3,400.00 grant for the Student Exchange program.

No news from Ludwigsburg to report.  We are awaiting updates on the Police Officer and Firefighter exchange.

That’s enough for now. Hope to see you this weekend and also Monday!

Have a wonderful weekend, get out and enjoy these beautiful days! What a summer this has been!

Just remembered, we have 2 cancellations for the Sunday, Nov.2 busride and dinner party for Her,ann, MO.. Let me know if interested.

Oktoberfest Dinner Dance:  Help!  If the 2008 Oktoberfest Dinner Dance is to be successful, the committee needs help from all members by buying and selling tickets (see Mary Reese), donating items for the balloon pop and/or donating a spirit or two for the spirit basket raffle.

Please bring a contribution of Spirits to our meeting Monday.
